farmisht (Yid.) befuddled, confused
In 1970 my high school history teacher announced to the class that the United States had reached the peak of its power. The future for the U.S. was downhill. I don’t remember the reasoning behind his announcement — maybe it was the Vietnam War or Richard Nixon or the national debt. However, looking back after more than 40 years, it looks like he was correct. I don’t know if 1970 was the peak of prosperity for the U.S. or if it was a year or two earlier or later. Yet it is hard to look at where our country is now and honestly say we are better off now. This blog will attempt to determine what the reasons were for the decline of our nation. This is only an attempt as I, like the rest of our country, am farmisht.
